Vernacular Typography 10/17/25

This photograph was taken on South Congress in Austin, Texas. While walking along the street, my goal was to take as many pictures of typography as possible, or at least the text that stood out to me. I took fifty pictures, and this ended up being one of my favorites. The sign reads, “Can’t see clearly? Clearly, you need us.” I wasn’t thinking about my reflection while taking the photo, but after seeing the picture, I think it adds to the photo. The sign is about seeing clearly, which I thought was cool, since this was the only picture I took that showed my reflection clearly. While taking photos of all the text, I began to realize how many different fonts and colors were used, and how they had an affect on how I viewed different stores and restaurants. This walk overall opened my eyes to the significance that typography holds when it comes to communicating and marketing.
