Camera Obscura 9/14/25

This photo was taken with my home-made camera obscura. I built it from a cardboard box, magnifying glass, parchment paper, and duct tape. Taking photos with the camera involved heavily considering lighting, as the photos only came out well when there was a bright background. It also was slightly difficult to focus on the objects I was photographing, but in the end I think the slight blurriness has a nice effect on the picture. I photographed a collection of items and knick knacks that sit on a table in front a window in my home. Overall, I like how this specific picture came out since the larger centerpiece items are focused on, while the smaller, more insignificant pieces blur outwards. It seems fitting to me. I also like how you can’t tell exactly what the objects are, or what is exactly happening. Instead, there’s just a gesture of figures.
